We get calls every week from drivers in Wingham, Littlebourne and the surrounding villages convinced their PSA 1.2 PureTech engine is finished. In about half of those cases, it isn't — it's the wet belt, and we can fix it for under £900.
The PureTech is a fundamentally good engine. It's just that PSA's choice of a wet belt has aged badly. Owners report heavy oil consumption, cold-start tick, and lacklustre performance — all of which can have multiple causes.
Our Canterbury workshop covers Wingham routinely. The diagnosis process is straightforward: we drop the front timing cover, photograph the belt, and tell you what's actually wrong. If it's the wet belt, we replace it. If the bores are scored, we tell you straight that the engine isn't worth saving.
Either way, you walk away knowing — not guessing.
